Career story

From customer service to production development

Johanna’s career is driven by her constant desire to learn new things.

"I've been working at Vexve's Sastamala factory for almost ten years, and I've had the opportunity to do a wide range of tasks in the same workplace. I originally joined Vexve in 2014 to work as a marketing and customer service assistant, after which I continued as a customer service coordinator.

However, I was interested in the technical fields, and Vexve supported me in completing a degree in logistics engineering while working. Shortly after starting my studies, I was asked at a development interview at Vexve if I would like to switch to production management from customer service. Of course I did! I like to create order out of chaos on a practical level.

After graduating, I had the opportunity to become a production supervisor and work with new products and processes. For a while, I thought that I had had enough of studying, but it turned out differently and I am now studying for a Master's degree in Production Economics at Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology.

One of the best things about Vexve is the knowledgeable and helpful people to work with. No one is left alone! The employer has been very supportive of my desire to study and to work according to my skills and interests. There is an emphasis on safety, which is reflected in the high standard of equipment and work. There may be an idea of the technical sector as a typical men's job, but nowadays it's mostly a neat indoor job that suits everyone."
